The Middle Eastern restaurant has combined brunch and lunch with the Kapara Days menu
When does brunch become lunch? Does it matter if you have eggs after midday or fries first thing in the morning? For Eran Tibi, founder of Soho spot Kapara, there are no rules, which is why he’s launched the Kapara Days menu, where brunch and lunch dishes are available all day long.
The set menu, which comes in at £29 for two courses or £35 for three courses, includes a virgin gazoz (homemade drinks using small-batch syrups, seasonal fruit, herbs, spices and flowers) on arrival; a house pita with tomato, cardamom & coriander dip; and a side of either shawarma fries or chunky salad as well as your choice of starter, main and dessert, with options including:
- aubergine & tomato hummus with amba tahini, sumac and shallots
- cheesy balls with taleggio, mozzarella, harissa, burnt tomato and chilli & lime honey
- ceviche of black bream with granny smith, scotch bonnet and lemon verbena
- deep-fried squid with grapes, black garlic aioli, chervil and pickled chillies
- shakshuka with feta and preserved lemon
- turkey thigh schnitzel with burnt chilli & sunflower seed mayo
- baharat & freekeh-stuffed acorn squash with porcini, redcurrant jus, shawarma seeds and buttermilk
- orange blossom semolina sponge with nectarine, pistachio and olive oil
- medjool dates with black treacle, baharat chantilly and crumble
Whatever meal of the day it is, it’s never too early for a cocktail, so you can chase that gazoz with the likes of The Glory Mole (tequila, hibiscus, cardamom, ginger, lime & soda), Space Cowboy (olive oil mezcal, bourbon, sumac, tomato juice & herbs) and Dirty Talks (dirty & dry vodka martini with blue cheese-stuffed olives).
