The new live fire restaurant has opened in the City
Rob Star made his name in pubs, having founded the Electric Star Pubs group 15 years ago, and now he’s moving into dedicated dining with Firestarter. Recently opened at the Star by Liverpool Street, the restaurant is all about live fire cookery, with chef consultant Ricky Evans and Head Chef Leon Seraphim showcasing big flavours across the menu.
You can expect dishes like:
- crab doughnut with cowboy butter and smoked sriracha sugar
- espresso-tamarind pork ribs
- gochujang chilli crack honey fried chicken wings
- Yorkshire wagyu beef tartare with tomato ponzu-cured egg yolk, togarashi kewpie and black truffle potato chips
- flame-grilled 1kg Galician rib
- Firestarter double smash burger with smoked mustard butter and whisky caramelised onions
- coal roasted beets with whipped feta
- fire-roasted whole cauliflower with black garlic and red miso glaze
- wagyu bone marrow crème brûlée
- maple bourbon doughnut ice cream sandwich
Naturally, given Rob’s pub background, the drinks at Firestarter are on point and, like the food, nod to fire and flame – we’re talking cocktails like the Smoke & Mirrors (mezcal, bourbon, pineapple and flamed orange) and the White Hot Negroni (gin, jalapeno and grapefruit).
