Set up in the summer of 2013 by gin obsessive Leon Dalloway, the Gin Journey has been leading Londoners through the world of gin, trying samples and cocktails at some of the best distilleries and bars in the city, for over a decade. Since then the tours have expanded in London, running in both Soho and Shoreditch, around the UK and internationally, and have also grown to include the Margarita Journey and Summer Spritz Journey.
The OG tour, the Gin Journey (which has been rated the number one gin experience in the UK), is led by a Gin Guardian who takes you to four venues across Soho or Shoreditch, where you get to sample five different gins and five gin cocktails. The Margarita Journey is a three bar tour, including three margs and three tastings of tequila and mezcal (the Shoreditch stops for April include Del Maguey Mezcal at Callooh Callay and a Los Altos Tomatillo Margarita at Paloma Cafe). The Summer Spritz Journey is another three bar tour, which’ll have you sipping on classic Aperol spritzes and gin twists in (hopefully) some glorious London sunshine.
The experts leading each journey really know their stuff, so you get to learn the histories behind the different spirits and brands you try, and it’s a proper laugh too, so if you’re looking for alternative night out, this is it.
