Right in the heart of Covent Garden, Lilly’s Cafe is a whimsical all-day spot that finds ways to incorporate wellness and astrology into its globally-inspired menu. Headed up by chef Kimberly Lin (who’s also the brain behind vegan stuffed cookie brand Floozie Cookies, and was formerly Executive Pastry Chef at The Corinthia and Claridge’s) both the food and interiors at Lilly’s are influenced by the attributes of gems, signs of the zodiac, and the elements. Inside, the walls and furnishings are coloured with bright jewel tones and illuminated by sconces, as well as a large skylight which is draped with greenery. As for the menu, it just recently got a revamp.
The brand new menu features an eclectic mix of dishes, all containing mood-boosting and seasonal ingredients. Covering breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, dishes include:
- Banoffee Toast with date caramel, granola and banana
- Cacio e Pepe creamy scrambled eggs
- Chiliquiles with poached eggs, chipotle agave sauce and avocado in corn tortillas
- Turkish Eggs with garlic labneh, pul biber butter and chicken shawarma
- Duck Confit Salad with a light watermelon, toasted cashew and ponzu vinaigrette
- Chilli Masala Fries with a sticky red and green chilli sauce
Of course (given Lin’s credz), there are cakes to finish your meal off, with the likes of spiced carrot cake, lemon drizzle and chocolate brownies to choose from. Drinks-wise, Lilly’s serves a selection of teas (which come with tableside tea leaf reading), lattes, fresh juices, cocktails, wines and champagne. And to end your meal on an extra high note, you’ll get a light-hearted daily affirmation along with your bill.
