It’s the second opening from the Legare founders – and it’s just across the street
Jay Patel and Matt Beardmore have nailed modern Italian food with their Shad Thames restaurant Legare (which still retains its Michelin Bib Gourmand status after four years) and now the duo are diving into the wine bar world with Luna. Named after the moon, for its role in biodynamic winemaking, Luna’s wine list focuses on old-world bottles and great producers rather than sticking to a particular region or style – a “natty” wine bar this is not.
The food menu, curated by Matt, is similarly broad and changes regularly to reflect the best seasonal produce available and to best pair with the wines. You can expect dishes like:
- crisps with Old Bay seasoning
- Aberdeen Angus carpaccio with pistachio dressing
- Cornish sea bass, pickled kumquats and pink peppercorns
- baby aubergine with chickpeas and tahini
- fried poussin with curry leaves and lime
- Welsh rarebit
- New York cheesecake with blackcurrant compôte
