Take a trip across India right in the centre of town at Colonel Saab at the old Holborn Town Hall. Created by Indian hotelier Roop Partap Choudhary, the restaurant is an homage to his mother Binny and father Manbeer, who went by ‘Colonel Saab’ during his time in the Indian army; the artefacts that make up the spectacular interior have been collected by the family on their travels and the menu is inspired by all the places he was stationed.
That means you can find regional specialties not often seen in London alongside classic Indian dishes, so you could be feasting on Kolhapuri lamb chops, chilli mogo, chicken Chettinad, Lucknowi lamb biryani, Falahari curry kofta, paneer Pakeezah and Mishti Doi cheesecake. The bar at Colonel Saab is stocked with a spice box of artisanal gins, whiskies and rums based on Indian botanicals to give you another taste of India, with inventive cocktails created by mixologist Antony Bertin and Indian beers also on the drinks list.
