gallery tour and printmaking masterclass at alan cristea

St James’s is home to a diverse range of brands, from retailers to restaurants, but each one shares a passion for craftsmanship and skill. And now the residents of St James’s are letting you in on their secrets with a curated programme of events. Next up in the St James’s One of a Kind series is ‘Royal Academicians in Focus – Private Gallery Tour and Talk on Printmaking’, held at the Alan Cristea Gallery and one art lovers will want to pay attention to.

Alan Cristea is one of the largest publishers of original and contemporary prints in the world and in their two-floor Pall Mall space you can see emerging talent alongside works by modern masters. The gallery also has a close connection with the Royal Academy – it is only a few streets away after all – as many of the artists that Alan Cristea represents are Royal Academicians. To celebrate the RA’s 250th anniversary, they’re holding a ‘Royal Academicians in Focus’ exhibition, featuring works by RA artists like Michael Craig-Martin, Yinka Shonibare MBE, Antony Gormley, Emma Stibbon and David Nash, as well as pieces from Joe Tilson and Cornelia Parker, who have designed the flags you may have seen hanging in Regent Street St James’s and Piccadilly in honour of the milestone.

As well as a private tour of that exhibition plus one of their other summer show ‘Richard Woods, Ideal Home’, this masterclass also includes a backstage tour of the gallery itself – not something that usually happens at private views, so count yourselves lucky – AND a talk on printmaking techniques, so you can really dive into the details of these impressive pieces. You may even discover your new fave artist.

It’s totally FREE to attend the Alan Cristea masterclass, you just need to register to secure your spot.
