Friday Night Lates at the Barbican Conservatory

The Barbican Conservatory, a tropical oasis in the heart of the city, has been home to an installation by Indian sculptor Ranjani Shettar since September 2023. This site-specific commission features five hand-crafted, large-scale sculptures made using the likes of wood, stainless steel, muslin, lacquer and techniques that have been adapted from traditional Indian crafts. These are suspended above and interweaved between the Conservatory’s plants and trees. The exhibition is only open at the weekends, but it stays open later on Fridays, so you can drop by at 9.30pm or 10.30pm for a wander through the jungle after dark. Best of all, it’s totally FREE to visit – just make sure you book your slot in advance (they fill up fast).
