freak scene to go permanent

After leaving Kurobuta, Scott Hallsworth opened Freak Scene as a pop-up in Clerkenwell last summer and now we’re pleased to hear that it’s going permanent this month, taking over the old Barrafina site on Frith Street. Many of the dishes from the pop-up, including chilli crab and avocado wonton bombs and chicken-fried chicken with peanut soy and cucumber pickles (which we loved), are making the move, with new menu additions including foie gras croissants, crispy nori cones with tea-smoked beef fillet, and fermented Thai sausages and pumpkin som tam. On the booze front you can expect yuzu-spiked beers, sake bombs, shochu and cocktails, and as well as being able to see the chefs at work in the open kitchen, you can also catch an episode of Takeshi’s Castle projected onto the wall. And anywhere that screens Takeshi’s Castle gets the thumbs up from us.

Opens Thurs 29th March 2018
54 Frith Street, London, W1D 4SL
