FORZA WINE IS OPENING AT THE NATIONAL THEATRE

The South London wine bar is moving a little further north with its second site, set to open this September

If you haven’t been to Forza Wine, you’ll probably recognise it from the pictures. It’s the Peckham-based rooftop wine bar (from the people that brought us Forza Win in Camberwell) that’s won the hearts of skyline view-infatuated Londoners everywhere. As well as its fantastic location, Forza Wine is well-loved for its selection of Italian cocktails and natural wines.

Now properly established in SE15, Forza Wine is heading for SE1 to become the latest addition to the National Theatre’s growing selection of food and drink destinations. Already in residency at the brutalist landmark are street food superstars KERB, whose now annual pop-up sees a vibrant selection of indie vendors take over various spaces throughout the theatre, and Lasdun, from the team behind the Marksman in Hackney, which just opened in May.

Forza Wine will be moving into the theatre’s northwest terrace this September, so the new site will still have an al fresco space. It’ll also be open all year round – the terrace can be covered when necessary – with a food offering that will centre around a selection of ‘sort of Italian’ snacks. Expect the menu to include the likes of cauliflower fritti with aioli; mozzarella with figs & hazelnuts; pancetta potato cakes & pickled cabbage; and their signature soft serve. As for drinks, there’ll be seasonal cocktails such as ‘cherry negronis’, ‘limonata biancas’ and ‘frozen peach margaritas’ and a range of natural wines. If you’re already a fan of Forza Wine but fancy a closer look at the Thames with your Italian cuvée, this is great news.

Opens Thurs 7th September 2023
Upper Ground, National Theatre, London SE1 9PX
