Food Is Imitating Art at Mount St. Restaurant

Given that it’s operated by Artfarm, it’s not surprising that Mount St. Restaurant (and The Audley Public House downstairs) is filled with impressive artworks. This autumn Executive Chef Jamie Shears is taking inspo from some of the pieces on display, including some new additions, with the Palette to Plate menu. The three-course menu features a starter of roast pumpkin soup with burrata and mushroom brioche, nodding to ‘Turbankurbis’ by Hans Emmenegger, followed by a choice of sharing mains – the lobster pie for two (a salute to Andy Warhol’s ‘Lobster’) or rib of West Country beef with chips, salad and beef dripping bearnaise (inspired by ‘Still life with meat’, artist unknown). You can finish with either the seasonal sorbet plate (inspired by Frank Bowling’s ‘Shallowtrench’) or the homemade chocolates, which references Dame Phyllida Barlow’s ‘Audley ceiling’ in the pub downstairs.
