You may have seen Guillaume Desmurs, aka the Flying Frenchman, selling his sausages, pates and terrines at food markets across the city but now you can try out the goods at his brand new cafe La Canteen in Newington Green, joining the likes of Jolene and Perilla. As you can guess from the name, there’s a strong French aspect to the charcuterie and condiments that the Flying Frenchman produces though there a plenty of global influences too – New Orleans-style andouille and chicken garam masala are just two types of sausages on offer.
Everything is made with the best rare breed and free range meat, and no chemicals or fillers, and the Flying Frenchman also does veggie pates and terrine, so you meat-free folks are sorted too. You can try the range at La Canteen alongside natural wines and craft beer or you can catch the bright red Le Van as it rolls around town.
