new guitar-heavy single Ship to Wreck from Florence + the Machine drops May 25th on Island Records and see’s Florence singing about animals of the sea, presumably metaphorically, given that the killer whale “has me by its teeth”. “Did I dream to much, am I losing touch, did I build a ship to wreck?” sings Welch who in a press statement explained, “I was thinking about my own self destructive side.”

The distinctive trills come through as we hoped they would, and Ship to Wreck proves an exciting second taster of her album How Big How Blue How Beautiful, due out in June, 2015.
