FAT HIPPO HAS BROUGHT FAT BURGERS TO SHOREDITCH

It seems that London is going through a bit of a burger boom – Black Bear Burger has opened in Exmouth Market, Burger & Beyond has set up shop in both Soho and Borough, and now burger restaurant group Fat Hippo has coming to Shoreditch. Founded in the North East in 2010, Fat Hippo has since expanded across the north of the country and now has sites opening in Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as their first foray into the capital.

It’s fat by name and fat by nature with Fat Hippo as these burgers are stacked – we’re talking toppings like peanut butter, bacon jam & smoked chilli jello; braised pork rib, jalapenos & garlic mayo; cheese, smoked bacon, chorizo & onion rings; and jerk bacon, candied pineapple, slaw & hot sauce. And it’s not just about the beef, they do massive fried chicken and plant-based bun alongside frickles, dirty waffle fries, loaded tater tots and more carby chippy goodness.

And there are some burger bargains to be had too – if you swing by at lunchtime on weekdays, you can feast on a burger and fries for just £8, and if you want to indulge a little more, you can two courses for £16 and three for £18 during Hippo Hour – that’s 5pm – 6pm on weekdays.
