It seems that London is going through a bit of a burger boom – Black Bear Burger is opening in Exmouth Market, Burger & Beyond are heading for Soho and Borough, and now burger restaurant group Fat Hippo are coming to Shoreditch. Founded in the North East in 2010, Fat Hippo has since expanded across the north of the country and now has sites opening in Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as their first foray into the capital.
And by the looks of their menu, Fat Hippo is gonna fit in very well – we’re talking burgers topped with peanut butter, bacon jam & smoked chilli jello; braised pork rib, jalapenos & garlic mayo; cheese, smoked bacon, chorizo & onion rings; and jerk bacon, candied pineapple, slaw & hot sauce. And it’s not just about the beef, they do absolutely stacked fried chicken and plant-based bun alongside frickles, dirty waffle fries, loaded tater tots and more carby chippy goodness. YES PLEASE.
