The14th of February is the most romantic day of the year, when lovers spoil each other with gifts and surprises – if you want to get married on Valentine’s Day, then expect to have to book way in advance, and despite Brits apparent hatred of the idea of proposing on the 14th, thousands of couples get engaged on Valentine’s Day.
A recent Ladbrokes Casino survey developed through their quiz found the average spend on Valentine’s Day is £41, but how much is too much? Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Or Brangelina, to call them by their media name. One Valentine’s Day, Angelina presented Brad with a 200 year old olive tree, at a cost of $34,000. The tree now resides at Chateau Miraval, the couple’s moated residence in France, which has its own olive grove and vineyard. Handy. Brad, who is an olive fanatic, was overjoyed by the gift.
David and Victoria Beckham
This power couple has a bob or two to rub together, but even David dug deep into his pockets for Victoria, presenting her with an $8million Bulgari necklace. It’d have to be some occasion to wear a bauble like that – maybe it only comes out for February 14th.
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez
Justin showed his romantic side when he bought a florist out of flowers to decorate Selena’s home one Valentine’s Day. It must have been a wonderful surprise, although seeing as the couple broke up shortly after, apparently it wasn’t wonderful enough.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand
Katy and Russell short and tumultuous marriage was a sea of highs and lows – and some very high spending on romantic gestures. Katy once surprised Russell with a $340K lilac Bentley; what more could a man want?
