from Washington DC are spicy trio Ex Hex who have just released the single ‘Don’t wanna Lose’, from their upcoming debut album Rips. Think leather, safety pins and circulation cutting drainpipes. Think insolence, charisma but most importantly talent…

Don’t wanna lose is primal, and as the upcoming album title suggests, contains some ripping guitars and pop punk power. The jagged sound is redolent of The Runaways and The Buzzcocks with crazily catchy hooks, though they don’t sound like the typical American pop-punk piece, and introduce their own slant on the genre.

The album set for release on the 13th of October, was recorded after the group had only been together a matter of months, and the album itself recorded over two weeks in the basement of the band’s founder, Mary Timony. (NB: Google her and tell us she looks 44?! Well done Mary…) Sticking to the old punk mantra that is ‘do it yourself music production’ seems to have paid of pretty well for the gals so far, we can’t wait for the finished product.
