ESHK Hair Celebrates Two Decades in the Biz

The salon group has just had a very big birthday

Founded by Fernando Lopez and Meg Liu back in 2005, ESHK has grown from one salon in Clerkenwell to three in London (Shoreditch and Bermondsey), two in Berlin, and one apiece in New York and Toronto. With two decades under their belts, all whilst keeping their creative ethos and attracting great stylists, they must be doing something right.

That’s why we went to the newest of the London salons in Bermondsey, co-owned by director Luigi Buonaiuto (it’s got a real industrial edge thanks to lots of polished concrete) for a much-needed cut after letting it all grow out over the summer. The combination of unpredictable British weather, European sunshine seawater and chlorine had left our hair mighty parched, so our stylist Iva, who has over 30 years experience in the hair biz, used the True Soft range of shampoo and conditioner from Swedish brand Maria Nila to get that moisture back in.

She chopped a decent amount off the length to get rid of those pesky split ends, added a bit of movement around the face, and managed to smooth off the surface frizz, leaving us with a sleek new look for autumn.

There were no drastic hair changes for us this time but the ESHK team can do transformative colours just as easily as classic cuts, and it’s all priced on a gender neutral basis. One to book into when you next need a new ‘do.
