Following a pop-up at Liberty back in the spring, Wildsmith Skin has opened a permanent destination at the department store
If you’re looking for somewhere to rest and recharge during the busy festive period, make a beeline for Liberty. The store may be busy with Christmas shoppers but tucked away on the fourth floor is a little slice of Hampshire’s Heckfield Estate. The Treehouse by Wildsmith Skin, the skincare brand inspired by William Walker Wildsmith’s arboretum on the estate, has been designed to be a real sanctuary – the treatment space is surrounded by projections of the woodland paired with a soundscape recorded in the grounds, so you really do get the feeling of walking through a forest. Admittedly the sound of swaying leaves and birdsong doesn’t always completely drown out the Regent Street traffic but it really is transportive and a nice change from the usual chimes and whale tones you’d get in a spa.
There are only two treatments on offer at The Treehouse, a Rebalancing Massage and Wildsmith’s signature Radical Botany Facial – the colder weather has started to dry out my skin so I opted to try the latter. The treatment began with some breathwork to help centre and ground the mind. Then a double cleanse with a balm and a b5 gel cleanser was followed by light exfoliation and a rich clay mask.
Though it’s very much a facial, there’s also a lot of bodywork involved in the treatment, including myofascial release (particularly on the neck and shoulders), craniosacral holds and feet and arm massage to relieve tension. Wildsmith’s body oils are designed to work in sync with your circadian rhythms – as my treatment was in the evening, my therapist used the Stillness Oil, with rose geranium, lavender and chamomile to help promote calm.
Once the mask was taken off, the facial was finished with copper peptide serum and cream, leaving my skin much more hydrated and visibly plump and healthy. As well as being a fantastic treatment, it’s also redeemable on product in-store, so you can take a bit of Wildsmith Skin home with you afterwards too.
