are from Minneapolis and have recently signed to Rough Trade. Their forthcoming debut EP ‘This One’s Different’ is out August 1st. Their upbeat indie pop holds elements of surf, hip shaking drum beats and jangly guitar. 19 year old singer Jordan Gatesmith is a little like Napoleon Dynamite in the way that his geekyness is somehow quite cool.

Somewhere between Surfer Blood and Girls lead track ‘I told you once’ opens with a rolling stonesesque acoustic guitar and is about longing for a girl. Its depressing lyrics over a happy dance along tune have us listening again and again.

‘This One’s is Different’ is another punk meets surf indie pop gem with easy sing along melodies that embed themselves in your head. ‘You Like White Women, I Like Cigarettes’ carries a keyboard melodies through the song that sounds like it’s lifted from Bruce Springsteen. The end gets a little more gritty and brings out a harsher element in Howler with Gatesmith screaming about a break up.

Having recently supported The Vaccines and been hyped by the NME Howler look set to take off this summer and we can’t wait to catch them live. Check out the dates below.
