Borough Market is a lovely place to be at the moment. Free from tourist crowds and office hoards, Stoney Street is buzzing in the evenings as restaurants set up outdoor seating spread out far and wide. One of these is Elliot’s who are running a summer pop-up terrace opposite their restaurant, just outside Brindisa. The pop-up is being run in association with SELECT, a classic Venetian aperitif which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
There will of course be SELECT spritzes galore, and when the sun is shining, it’s really the ideal drink to kick off the night. The food menu is seriously good too, with snacks such as Cantabrian anchovy toast and absolutely banging, must-order Isle of Mull cheese puffs.
Small plates include the excellent potato flatbread with Irish trout roe and sour cream chive butter; a beautiful tuna crudo; and langoustines with ginger and white pepper. Being an Italian-accented pop-up, the main event is pizza of course. Among the options are taleggio, sage and brown butter; pepperoni, n’duja, and gorgonzola dolce; and the epic mortadella, olive, and pistachio.
Great food and booze, and great vibes – Elliot’s ‘Ell-fresco’ summer pop-up is a great option for summer dining. We’re unlikely to see Borough Market this chilled again so it’s well worth stopping by!
