ELEPHANT PARK’S NEW INDIAN SPOT HAS SOME FAMILIAR NAMES AT ITS HELM

Sorowar Khan (of Mango in Borough) and Humayun Hussain are teaming up to launch Kachori this summer, with former Gymkhana head chef Brinder Narula to head up the kitchen

Elephant Park is about to welcome a new modern Indian restaurant to the neighbourhood as Kachori will open its doors this May. The concept has been named after the popular Indian snack, kachori: deep-fried flaky pastry typically stuffed with a savoury, lentil-based filling. Of course, kachori will feature on the menu, with options that include the restaurant’s signature Truffle & Matar ki Kachori, (stuffed with green peas and black truffle, served with black chickpeas and carrots pickle) and Bikaneri Raj Kachori (made with puffed lentil and wheat, sprouted moong, sweet potatoes, yogurt, tamarind, pomegranate, sunflower seeds).

The rest of the menu is set to be extensive and diverse, influenced by the regional communities of Marwari, Jains, Raiputs and Moghuls. Expect the likes of:

  • Smoked Chicken Salad – chicken thigh tikka, mix green leaves, quinoa grains, watermelon radish, naan croutons, house dressing.
  • Bhutta Ribs – Jodhpur podi spiced tossed corn ribs, masala hummus, panchpuran Kimchi
  • Kachori Smashed Beef Burger – herbed smash beef, cheddar cheese, brioche bun, caramelised onions, curry coleslaw, pickled cucumber, masala chips, garam masala gravy or buffalo sauce
  • BC Chicken Burger – buttermilk crunchy chicken fillet, brioche bun, mango chutney, lettuce, coleslaw, tomatoes, shengdana crumble, BC sauce, masala chips
  • Khiley Phool Tandoori – grilled broccoli and cauliflower, tamatar Qoot
  • Lahshuni Jheenga – jumbo prawn in shell, garlic, stone flower, muhamara yogurt, pickled fennel
  • Mirchiwala Paneer – diced paneer, jalapeno chillies, crushed coriander seeds, spring onion.
  • West Coast Prawn Rasa – freshwater prawns, kokum, palm vinegar, coconut milk

That’s not all, once the full menu is released we can expect to see a breakfast offering added (which will be available from Monday to Friday), featuring both Indian and non-Indian classics. In July, the Kachori team plans on launching a Saturday brunch and, later on in the summer, a Sunday roast to end the week on a high. Indian food fans, get excited.
