Effra Social in Brixton just cut the ribbon to welcome the south Londoners with an all new cool hangout. It all just got announced very timidly via Twitter and Facebook a couple of months ago, and until then, we just knew the name. Stencilled graffiti appeared on a shutter in Coldharbour Lane confirming that it was for real.
Then
a very encouraging Facebook meant The Effra Social has born, spawn under the same web as The Dogstar: Antic London So it pretty much is a new venture, right next to the famous Hootenanny, hidden in a Victorian terrace, and looking form outset, very much like a big house party. Behold, the picnic tables will look pretty tempting come spring. Inside is a retro 50s-60s palace, so as expected, the opening hosted a very well quiffed rockabilly band called Conrad and the ATOMIKS and all the public came dressed accordingly. The brixtonians have a new public house in the hood and it looks a hoot.89 Effra Road in Brixton SW2 1DF
