the success of the first Edible Cinema, The Electric Cinema have announced yet another cinematic experience which sees them team up with event organiser Polly Betton & experimental food designer Andrew Stellitano. This time it’s at The Aubin Cinema (The Electric is still closed due to a fire) and the film of choice is  Studio Ghibli’s weird and wonderful ‘Spirited Away’.

Like the first installation the audience will be given a number of food packages to consume at specific points during the film along with a Bombay Sapphire cocktail inspired by the film. The smell, texture, even the way your mouth feels after eating the contents of the packages will correspond to what’s happening onscreen.

Imagine eating foaming tapioca ‘soap’ powder as Sen bathes a filthy river spirit at the bathhouse. Or when bathhouse worker Lin eats a roasted newt you’re also eating the strangest sweet-savoury crunchy treat you’ve ever tasted.

Tickets from £20pp and on sale from Monday 13 August.
