Somerset House normally puts on a packed programme for Earth Day, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and they’re not letting lockdown get in the way as they’re taking it all online. The free and interactive online events celebrate artists and designers who are addressing the ecological crisis and inspiring positive action with their work.
The 2020 programme includes online DIY flag-making workshops to encourage people to share messages to future generations, created by fashion designer Bethany Williams as part of her All Our Children commission. Somerset House curator Karishma Rafferty will also host a live Q&A with Bethany about her creative practice. Fashion Open Studio will be running a series of talks and workshops on sustainable fashion and there’ll be family-friendly workshops inspired by the Mushrooms: The Art, Design and Future of Fungi exhibition.
