It’ll be the third location for the independent bakery, joining its sites in London Fields and Poplar
Hot on the heels of the news that the Jikoni founders would be opening a restaurant at the V&A East Museum in Stratford next year, it’s now been announced that e5 Bakehouse will be doing the food and drink at the V&A East Storehouse. Located just over the canal from the Museum, the Storehouse is a world-first, purpose-built space that’ll immerse visitors in the V&A’s collections, including the David Bowie archive. Home to over half a million works, it’ll take you behind the scenes of a working museum, showing you how and why objects get collected.
The e5 Storehouse cafe will have a similar aesthetic to its sister sites, featuring bright colours, industrial materials, and a modular design so it can be transformed into an events and display space. It’ll also reflect e5’s focus on creativity, sustainability and equity by offering great value, locally-sourced food and drink. We don’t know exactly what’ll be on the menu yet but we’d expect to see items that celebrate heritage grains and sourdough baking.
Speaking about the new cafe, e5 Bakehouse’s Managing Director Louise Lateur, said: “We’re very excited to work alongside V&A East Storehouse teams to conceptualise e5 Bakehouse’s third cafe, e5 Storehouse. Alongside artisanal baking, e5 Bakehouse has always been interested in design and sustainability. We’re working closely with V&A East Storehouse to design a cafe that inspires creativity and communal dining. e5 Storehouse will operate as a cafe deli with our familiar pastries, bread and coffee, alongside a simple breakfast and lunch offering. The cafe will also host events and talks to be introduced after the initial opening period.”
