A Christmas crumble-off is coming to London and for once, everyone’s scrapping over dessert for a seriously good cause
FareShare, the UK’s biggest food redistribution charity, has teamed up with British Berry Growers and Driscoll’s to launch #BerryCrumblyChristmas, a new festive campaign celebrating flavour, creativity and community through the nation’s favourite winter pudding.
Kicking things off is the first-ever Top Chef Crumble Competition, landing at Dovetale in Mayfair on Monday 1st December. A line-up of top chefs and culinary creators, including Ana da Costa (@_lotsofbutter), Sam Lawrence (Lulu’s + Llewelyn’s), Elliot Hashtroudi (Camille), Chef Toto (The Felix Project), Tom Anglesea (Dovetale) and Jemma Harrison (Kaunter) will go head-to-head to create the ultimate festive crumble using Driscoll’s berries and simple, accessible ingredients.
Their creations will be judged by Michelin-starred Tom Sellers, Professor Green, and Melissa Hemsley, who’’ll be looking for creativity, flavour and full festive flair. The winning crumble will then be recreated using donated berries in kitchens across FareShare’s nationwide network and served to communities around the UK.
As part of the #BerryCrumblyChristmas campaign, British Berry Growers and Driscoll’s will donate fresh berries to FareShare, helping to create thousands of festive crumbles this winter. Fresh berries and recipe cards will also be distributed to families supported by the charity, encouraging people to make their own crumbles at home.
A limited number of consumer tickets will be released through a public giveaway. To enter, follow @fareshareuk, @lovefreshberries @driscolls.uk and @driscollsberry on Instagram and comment “I’m wishing for a berry crumbly Christmas” on the giveaway post. Winners will get to attend the event, taste every crumble and even vote alongside the judges.
If you fancy seeing what some of London’s most inventive cooks can do with a tray of berries, this is the one to bookmark.
