Whenwe think of tequila, we usually pair it with a lick of salt and a squeeze of lemon, but tequila brand Don Julio has given us an insight into a number of different ways we can enjoy Mexico’s favourite spirit, without the bitterness. Don Julio teamed up with i-D to host ‘La Cantina Primavera’, bringing all the best bits of Mexico to the London, celebrating the cultures food, entertainment and of course tequila.
The aim is to show us how to enjoy tequila in new ways with a collection of tequila cocktails to sample throughout the night. The spirit wasn’t only in drink form, making its way into tequila flavoured popcorn and sorbet. Gizzi Erskine created food pairing dishes inspired by her recent trips to the country, recreating the flavours that Mexico is well-known for such as Pork carnitas tacos with charred pineapple and pickled pink onions. Held at East London’s Kachette the venue was transformed into a Mexican escape, and filled with big name guests including Mark Ronson and Millie Mackintosh.
Don Julio introduced us to a whole new tequila experience…we can make tequila our drink for the summer. But remember guys…drink responsibly.
