dominique ansel to open treehouse in covent garden

He’s caused mad queues in New York and his Belgravia bakery is always busy thanks to crazy popular dishes like the banana paella, the chocolate chip cookie shot and of course, the iconic Cronut. Now Dominique Ansel is expanding his empire with a second London location opening in Covent Garden.

We had expected the new site, called Treehouse, to be another bakery but it’s actually going to be a bistro, completely separate from the Belgravia site – and that means no Cronut. Instead, there’ll be much more of a focus on savoury doughs with the likes of vol au vents, venison pithiviers, hand-made pastas, gnocchi with comte sauce, and gougères all appearing on the menu. You’ll still be able to get desserts, including apple tarte tatin and creme caramel, and there’ll also be pastries on offer at Treehouse’s bakery boutique.
