The word ‘institution’ is thrown around a lot these days. But few could argue that Dishoom isn’t exactly that. Its iconic Black Daal and bacon naan have helped secure its spot as a London great. And good news! We’re getting more. Dishoom’s next London café – its eighth in the capital – lands in Borough this October.
The site sits in the West Wing of the Grade II-listed Hop Exchange, the last of the city’s old “outcry” exchanges, built in 1867 by R.H. Moore. It will sit across two floors, including a covered verandah. Like all Dishoom openings, there’s a story set during a significant moment of Bombay’s history which inspires the café’s character. For this restaurant, the tale is a retelling of Romeo & Juliet set in Bombay’s Victorian marketplace, Crawford Market – likely a nod to the nearby Borough Market.
On the menu, you can expect old Dishoom favourites spanning small plates, grills, biryanis, salads, rolls and curries, as well as two dishes exclusive to Borough: Keralan Pepper Chicken with Malabar paratha, and a Black and Thunder Flip pairing Johnnie Walker Black with Thums Up.
A soft launch is running from Mon 12th – Tues 20th October during which there’s 50% off food before general bookings open. Sign up here to be the first to hear more.
