If you’re anything like us, you’re on a constant quest to find the best pubs and quirkiest bars in London. If you want to find those secret hidden gems though, you need to know people in the know. We do our best to recommend the coolest places but now there are also companies that specialise in helping you find these underground hangouts.
Destination Unknown is a brand new organisation that specialises in introducing you to bars that you’ve never been to. The concept is simple. Sign up for a tour, rendezvous with your mystery contact at an arranged central London location and they take you to three venues around town. The price of the sign up includes taxis between the venues and your first drink in each bar.
We don’t want to give too much away about the exact locations of the bars we visited during our adventure with Destination Unknown, but all three venues were great fun and places that we had never been before. We pride ourselves on being experts in London nightlife, but it’s clear that Destination Unknown have done their homework and know their boozers!
Our evening started by meeting our guide in South Kensington who took us, and a small group of like-minded drinkers, to a local speakeasy, so hidden away that we’d never be able to find it again. A couple of cocktails here preceded us jumping into cabs and heading to basement cocktail bar near Regents Park. Live music and more cocktails were enjoyed before moving on to our final bar in Shoreditch. All three bars were entirely new to us and places that we will definitely go back to. Success!!
Destination Unknown also offer bespoke party planning, so if you’re looking to organise a pub crawl with your mates, they can take out all the stress and organise it for you. However, we had great fun meeting new people on our journey and we’d definitely recommend taking the opportunity to make new friends, especially if you’re a bit thin on the ground. If you’ve got a sense of adventure, enjoy a cocktail or two and can keep a secret then this might just be the night for you.
