David Lynch’s World Comes Back to Life at Genesis Cinema This September

Last year's sell-out David Lynch tribute returns, with owls, a secret Blue Velvet bar and an immersive scavenger hunt through Lynch's head

A Gathering of the Angels, the two-day David Lynch celebration that sold out last September, returns to Genesis Cinema in Whitechapel on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September. It’s run by TPUK Events, the team previously behind the Twin Peaks UK Festival, and this year’s guest list includes Twin Peaks regulars Harry Goaz and Ian Buchanan, along with George Griffith from Twin Peaks: The Return and longtime Lynch producer Sabrina S. Sutherland.

Beyond the panels and Q&As, there’s a live-action Blue Velvet Immersive Experience designed by Jos Porath, part scavenger hunt, part fever dream, alongside a Slow Club bar recreated from the Blue Velvet set, a Lynch-inspired art gallery, and a Sunday night set from DJ Yoda. There’s also a session called The Call of the Owl, in which live owls are released among the audience, hosted by a falconer from the English School of Falconry, a nod to the Black Lodge’s owl symbolism in Twin Peaks. Big-screen screenings of Fire Walk With Me and Blue Velvet run across the weekend, alongside a cosplay competition and a resident tattoo artist offering Lynch-themed ink.

Three charity auctions run across the weekend, raising money for the David Lynch Foundation, Cabaret Vs Cancer, and Mädchen Amick’s mental health charity Don’t Mind Me.
