Corrochio’s Is Expanding With a New Restaurant and Bar in Dalston

One of Dalston’s best Mexican spots is getting even better

Corrochio’s has been serving up some of the best regional Mexican food and cocktails in town since 2021 and soon there’s gonna be even more to go around as a new 120-cover street-level bar and restaurant opens above the original site. Founded by Daniel Corrochio and Amy McQuarrie, the concept started life as a pop-up at The Bluecoats Pub in Tottenham before moving into Ruby’s in Dalston, and it’s gone so well that they’re expanding. The Corrochio’s space is being turned into Cinco, a bar specialising in lesser-known agave and Mexican spirits, while the new upstairs area becomes a Cocina & Cocteleria.

The new Cocina & Cocteleria menu will showcase both regional Mexican specialities and modern bar food, including dishes like:

  • Enchiladas Verdes (from Puebla) – corn tortillas filled with chicken, potato or potato & chorizo in poblano & verde sauce, refried beans, cream, cheese, onions and avo
  • Huaraches (from Mexico City) – corn guajillo ‘flatbread’ topped with pork carnitas, pork al pastor, grilled cactus or jackfruit al pastor with refried beans, salsa, onions, gualsa and cream
  • Tostada de Camarón (from Oaxaca) with cooked prawn ceviche, avocado, cucumbers, charred habanero & pineapple sauce and lime mayo
  • Gobernador taco with prawns, octopus, poblano & pastor mayo
  • Short rib birria fries
  • Tortas made with telera bread from Sweet Nibble bakery

As for the Cocteleria part of the operation, you can expect tequila and mezcal to feature heavily alongside other Mexican spirits like Sotol, Raicilla, and Bacanora. That means plenty of Margaritas and Mezcalitas on the list as well as the Cantarito (with Arette tequila, citrus and grapefruit soda) and the Batanga (with Cascahuin Tequila Blanco, Mexican Coca Cola and lime).

With a fresh food and drink offering upstairs, a drinking den downstairs and DJs spinning on Friday and Saturday nights, the new-look Corocchio’s will have you covered for all things Mexican – and it’s opening on Cinco de Mayo no less.

Opens Sun 5th May 2024
