Mary
Poppins would probably lose her shit if she had to bike around London in this day and age. There’s so much rage on the street, it’d take a lot more than a spoon full of sugar to make the medicine go down. Creative agency KK Outlet wants to diffuse such negative thinking and bring a pinch of positivity to this hot-headed city with their summer exhibition. ‘Commute Nice London.’The show brings together the work of an excellent selection of traffic-stopping illustrators, artists and designers who have joined forces to promote the importance of peace, love and respect amongst all road users. Creative wonderkid Hattie Stewart is contributing to the cause, as is the super cool Laura Callaghan and London-based duo Crispin Finn, plus many more.
The mood is celebratory rather than preachy but there’s a definite message they want to shout about. At the risk of sounding too real, there have been 23,000 bike accidents and 80 deaths in London in the last five years. The highways and byways can be a dangerous place to be, let alone without someone flicking you the finger if you’re in the wrong lane.
So the next time someone gets shirty, flash a smile instead of your anger and let the good times roll!
