coco ichibanya to open a second site

Curry House Coco Ichibanya, or CoCoICHI to its fans, is Japan’s largest chain of curry houses with over 1400 sites across South East Asia and the USA. It’s first London site opened in Covent Garden last December and now restaurant number two is on the way, taking over the space where Jason Atherton’s Social Wine and Tapas used to be.

Coco Ichibanya is famous for its kare raisu – curry rice – which you can customise by adjusting the rice portion, the sweetness and spiciness of the sauce (ranging from mild to ‘level 10’), and the toppings. As well as beef, pork and fried fish, you can top the rice with everything from hamburgers and frankfurters to squid and shrimps to scrambled egg and corn, and yes, they do serve chicken katsu curry too.
