Stoke Newington has a new opening, a super cute little spot located in a stable yard on a side street next door to the tiny pub Macintosh Ales. It’s run by couple Georgia Lahiff and Frank Guest, who met while working at 10 William Street, Sydney, and have since done stints at Lyle’s and Trinity, as well as Leila’s Shop.
Eat This
The menu is small and changes daily, with everything except the bread made in house. The vibe recalls Towpath and Leila’s, with a touch of the Garden Cafe. On a visit, we tried a smooth rillette served with a giant jar of help-yourself cornichons, a chunky plate of caponata, and a celebration of onion tart with sheep’s cheese. For dessert, a fig-and-hazelnut tart and a plate of tomme de chèvre goat’s cheese.

Drink This
To drink, there’s a small selection of wines and beers, we loved the spritz with house-made vermouth, plus a very pleasant chilled red. On Thursdays and Fridays they also serve dinner, with one dish only on the table, ranging from mussel rice to roast chicken.
Why Go
A great addition to Stoke Newington, tucked away off the main drag of Church Street which minus a handful of spots is a bit of a food waste land. Simple and delicious home cooking, we have a feeling we’ll be regulars here.
