CINEMA, CAFE AND FOOD MARKET THE BLUE TO OPEN IN BERMONDSEY

The Really Local Group, the same team behind Catford Mews, is taking over the former Thorowgoods furniture store in Bermondsey and transforming it into a new cultural hub. The development will include a three-screen cinema (with cheap tickets), a coffee shop, a cafe, a bar, a co-working space and a food hall featuring local traders and artisans.

To anyone familiar with this particular bit of Bermondsey – known locally as The Blue – this might seem like a slightly odd choice for this kind of development, particularly on Millwall match days. Not sure the lads are going to be after food stalls and coffee but the group do have good previous form with their Catford development so we shall see.

The new project will also be called The Blue and not only will the venue give local businesses a platform, it’ll also showcase music and comedy performances from local talent, host a community-run creative school and provide a collaborative space for organisations to run their own events.
