Chris Leach and David Carter to Launch Manteca

It’s fair to say that Chris Leach and David Carter’s 10 Heddon Street residency went pretty well this year. We absolutely loved it, and so did everyone else, with critics and punters a like lining up to praise the pasta, charcuterie coming out of the kitchen. When we first heard about the residency we thought it was going to be called Manteca but that name was eventually dropped – until now.

Yes, Manteca lives again as the pair prepare to open their permanent successor to the pop up, at 58-59 Great Marlborough Street. Launching on Friday, they’ll be taking over the old Bibigo site and the concept will be very much an evolution from the menu at 10 Heddon Street. This means more of Chris’s home made charcuterie, such as his incredible mortadella, as well as fresh pastas and hearty meat dishes.

The Manteca menu is going to include duck sausage with prunes and Armagnac; pig head fritti; grilled lamb neck with charred cauliflower, pomegranate and flatbread; and pastas such as the tonarelli with brown crab caio e peper; and agnolotti with pork and hazelnuts.

We only managed to make it to 10 Heddon Street once so we’re very happy that these guys now have a permanent home. Manteca will be one to check out ASAP.

Opens 21st November
