If you’ve visited New York in the last few years, you probably noticed queues of people waiting in line at Sweetgreen, the salad bar phenomenon that’s taken over the city. Having lived in NY last year, we can attest that Sweetgreen, a build your own salad bar, is worthy of the hype and we’ve been wondering why on earth they haven’t opened in London yet. Well, while we’re waiting, we’ll have Choppaluna from Germany to satisfy our chopped salad cravings.
Choppaluna is a German salad chain – known over there as Salaid – that serves a healthy menu featuring chopped salads, choprolls (salad in a wrap) and smoothie bowls with over 60 topping choices. And the chain has big plans, with a flagship site opening in Bloomsbury this autumn followed by a roll-out expansion into Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh, eventually taking the store portfolio to 300 in the next ten years. That’s a lot of salads.
