chinese new year at yauatcha

Both Yauatcha Soho and Yauatcha City – two of our fave Chinese restaurants in town – are going all out for Chinese New Year by installing a bespoke ‘bio-morphic’ pig artwork inside the restaurants. To mark the Year of the Pig, the installation, featuring a series of pigs made from red perspex and gold brass suspended from the ceiling, will rotate to reveal a larger pig when you catch it from the right angle. One for the ‘gram for sure.

Of course there’ll also be a special Chinese New Year menu on at both restaurants, featuring auspicious ingredients and celebratory dishes like crispy monkfish cheek with enoki mushroom and salsify; prawn tofu with seaweed and water chestnut; Peking-style pulled pork with golden mantou; and mandarin matcha choux.

And if you don’t want to opt for the eight-course menu, you can still get in on the celebrations with the exclusive Nagami Fortune cocktail, made from Beefeater 24 gin, kumquat marmalade, raspberry cordial and lime juice, or with one of the limited-edition pig-stencilled macarons.
