CHET’S IS LANDING A PERMANENT SPOT IN SHEPHERD’S BUSH NEXT MONTH

Following on from a successful four-month residency at Rondo la Cave in the basement of The Hoxton in Holborn, ‘LA Thai’ spot Chet’s is moving into another Hoxton (in Shepherd’s Bush), this time permanently. Created in collaboration with the creator of LA’s NIGHT+MARKET, Kris Yenbamroong, Chet’s blends Americana with Thai flavours to get bold dishes to be paired with cocktails, shakes and wine.

Kris’ unique brand has been inspired by his childhood spent working in his family restaurant, Talesai, which was the first mainstream Thai restaurant in LA, as well as his background in the arts. At Chet’s, this manifests itself as an all-day menu of punchy plates and food that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Expect the likes of:

  • Pandan cinnabon
  • Bodega sandwich with sai uah sausage, egg and cheese,
  • Mushroom larb
  • Babka French toast
  • Chicken noodle salad
  • Tuna melt with ruffles and pickles
  • Chet’s smashburger with American cheese, pickle, coriander and Chet’s secret sauce
  • Bloomed tingling 5 spice onion (a whole onion, flowered, fried and coated in a 5 spice mix)
  • Skillet steak served with Thai chimichurri and French fries

Kris’ NIGHT+MARKET cookbook states that it’s “food to facilitate drinking and fun having amongst friends”, and the food at Chet’s will be no different. Good thing there’ll be plenty to drink then. Choose from cocktails such as Nom Yen Ramos (with housemade sala syrup), Holy Chet! (a holy basil and vermouth swizzle), Lychee Martinis and the Thai-ami Vice (a sharing cocktail designed for four and served in Chet’s full moon bucket alongside a bottle of champagne). Or go for a bespoke beer from Coalition Brewing or a glass of low-intervention wine from small producers. Chet’s is set to be a buzzy but chill spot at any time of the day, so if you were looking for a new hangout, this could be it.
