Montcalm now has six hotels in London and its latest is the Montcalm Royal London House in Finsbury Square. From up on its roof terrace restaurant and bar, The Aviary, you can even see two other Montcalm properties nestled among the London skyline, so they certainly seem to have hit a winning formula for the City of London. Being located roughly halfway between the City and Shoreditch, the Montcalm Royal London House has tried to strike a balance between luxury, business, and fun. Upon arriving, the first thing you’ll see is the new downstairs bar, The Burdock, complete with shuffleboard games, craft beer, and cocktails.
While The Burdock could be anywhere in Shoreditch, the rooms themselves are much more business like with huge smart TVs, fancy lighting systems and a free smartphone guide for visitors which is a nice touch. Everything else you’d expect from a five star hotel is present and correct too: a big comfy king-sized bed, underfloor heating in the bathroom, nespresso machine, and one of the biggest rainforest shower heads we are yet to see in ay hotel. They even have a pillow menu and an in-room aroma menu, allowing you to really get down to specifics when customising your stay!
[URIS id=86701]Up on the roof, The Aviary is another slice of Shoreditch fun, with an outdoor drinking terrace and a smart indoor restaurant designed by Russel Sage. Down int he basement too, the Montcalm manages to fit in a small gym and pool, which is a big bonus for this part of town.
All in all, the Montcalm Royal London House is a great shout for business travellers who like to let their hair down a bit. And, with that rooftop bar there’s plenty of fun to be had for Londoners too.
