CHECKING IN | VILLAGE BY BOA

Village by BOA is brand new to Porto, only opening its doors earlier this year. It’s a Portuguese apart-hotel that combines serviced apartments but with hotel-style service. As well as the main building of apartments, there are rows of terrace cottages hidden around the back, which date back to the 18th century and through ongoing restoration have had a swish revamp by Village. Whilst this year has been off to a great start, it’s clear that Village by BOA has big plans for 2023, with an addition of a restaurant and deli in the works.

Village by BOA has a prime location, tucked away on a quiet street in the busy area of Bolhao. Bolhao is definitely an area worth setting up camp and is one of Porto’s most popular neighbourhoods, home to an indoor food market, those iconic blue and white tiled buildings, and some of the best restaurants and pastel de nata spots in the city. It’s also only a three-minute walk to Trindade station, which takes you straight to the airport which is very handy. Although you’re in the heart of Porto, Village by BOA is very secluded and quiet, a hidden gem.

There is a range of different apartments to choose from both in the main building and the terrace-style houses outside, with some sleeping up to four people. All the apartments are chic and have a Mediterranean boho style to them. We stayed in one of their premium studios, which was very spacious for two people, having a large open-plan living room and kitchen, and a double bedroom divided by a glass separator. The bathroom was also a decent-size, with a large walk-in shower stocked full of boujee Meraki products.

When we stayed, we unfortunately weren’t blessed with the Mediterranean sunshine, but with torrential downpours instead. That, coupled with it being a Sunday evening, we were more than happy to cosy up in our apartment and watch a film on the smart TV. Like a lot of cities in Europe, many of the restaurants in Porto shut on a Sunday. Thankfully we were able to rustle something up ourselves in the kitchen, whilst sipping on a bottle of Portuguese vino.

You don’t have to leave your apartment for breakfast at Village either. You can opt for one of their brekkie packages to be delivered straight to your door, filled full of goodies including fresh bread, homemade cake, smoothies, fruit and more. It’s all delivered in a cute wooden basket and best enjoyed in bed.

Village by BOA is great for those looking for more than just a hotel room to lay your head. Not only is it located in one of the best spots in Porto, but with all its amenities you’ll feel right at home, perfect for living like a local.
