There’s no surprise Barcelona is the most visited city in Spain. Just a short flight from London, it’s ideal for a weekend getaway all year round, with over 50 museums, 68 parks and endless bars and restaurants to enjoy tapas in.
When visiting recently we stayed in hotel Casa Luz. The hotel is located in the neighbourhood of El Raval, right in the heart of city where the streets are brimming with bars and tapas joints, and it’s only a short walk to the iconic La Rambla and also just a stone’s throw from the beach. Casa Luz is part of the Sonder hotel group, which has six sites in BCN. If you’ve stayed at a Sonder hotel before you will be familiar with their easy-to-use app. This allows you contactless check-in, 24/7 customer service, late checkout and handy neighbourhood guides.
We stayed in one of their King Rooms with a balcony street view. Inside the room, you’ll find a king bed, huge TV and all the amenities you’d need during your stay (including decent air con – a must if visiting in summer). Their rooms have a minimal and chic interior but the bathroom’s amber tiles make for an Instagram dream.
Casa Luz’s breakfast buffet is healthier than most and includes a selection of homemade goodies including granola and pastries as well as fruit. It’s served on the rooftop restaurant, which is a hidden retreat away from the busy street of commuters below. You don’t have to venture out of the hotel to get a decent drink either. Head back up to the Casa Luz rooftop to enjoy an aperitivo and watch the sunset – if you’re lucky they might even have live music on the terrace.
Casa Luz is definitely a spot to hit up if you’re visiting Barcelona. It’s got a prime location, trendy interiors, a hip crowd and is pretty good value if you ask us.
