CHECKING IN | OCEAN DRIVE BARCELONA

Barcelona has it all. The Spanish city is bursting with culture and plenty of famous landmarks to see, endless bars to enjoy tapas, and unlike most other European cities, it has a beach to soak up the sun, making it the perfect destination for a summer break.

We took a trip there recently for a weekend of fun in the sun and checked into Ocean Drive Barcelona. The hotel is part of the OD Hotels group, which have six sites spread across Spain, including Madrid and Ibiza. The Barcelona hotel boasts a prime location in the heart of the city, and it’s only a five-minute walk from the bustling Passieg de Gracia and sight-seeing spots like the Casa de Batllo.

Unlike the majority of hotels in the centre, Ocean Drive is lucky enough to have a rooftop pool. Although it’s not huge, it’s the perfect spot for a post-sightseeing dip whilst taking in the views. There are also sun loungers to get your tan on and a rooftop bar to order that all-important sunset glass of cava.

We stayed in one of their deluxe rooms, which had all the amenities you could need, including a coffee machine, a huge telly and a fully stocked mini-bar. There’s a work station if you’re planning on working remotely and it’s also dog-friendly in case you plan to bring your four-legged companion.

The breakfast buffet at Ocean Drive is quite the spread, full of fresh fruit, plenty of pastries, and brunch dishes to order. After breakfast is over, the restaurant service begins through to the evening, serving up a mix of different foods, including the hotel’s burger menu, which can be paired with different G&Ts. There’s also an outdoor terrace to wine and dine on during the summer months and weekly events including live DJs and painting.

If you’re planning a trip to Barcelona, check out Ocean Drive. It ticks all the boxes for a city break stay – central location, spacious rooms and a swish rooftop to enjoy the sunset.
