CHECKING IN | NATIVE MANCHESTER

We’ve been to Manchester so many times that it does feel like a home away from home, and that feeling only deepens with a stay at Native Manchester. The UK’s leading lifestyle aparthotel brand boasts 162 luxury and serviced apartments at its Manchester property, inside the Grade II-listed Ducie Street Warehouse. With a lounge, restaurant, bar, terrace, counter, shop, cinema, and an outpost of BLOK on the ground floor of the building and the apartments on the floors above, it really has everything you could need under one roof, and it’s all just a two-minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly station.

It really is a huge space, with the apartments wrapping around a large, light-filled central atrium. They come in a range of sizes, from studios to a two-bedroom penthouse with a private terrace. We stayed in a Premium One Bedroom, with a huge bed and flat screen TV, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a separate living area with a sofa, another TV, a dining table and a fully equipped kitchen featuring an oven, fridge, coffee machine, dishwasher, and washing machine.

Lots of the old industrial features of the warehouse have been preserved, like the vaulted ceilings, exposed brickwork and large steel beams (there was one painted a nice shade of sky blue running through our bathroom), and the rooms are finished with herringbone wooden floors, and soft furnishings in pale green, grey, terracotta and teal, making Native as stylish as it is functional.

There’s plenty of space to cook in the apartments but if you don’t want to exert yourself in the morning, you can pick up a grab bag of brekkie goodies from the counter or head to the DSW restaurant for a Full English, pancakes, Turkish eggs, or French toast, made with locally-sourced produce.

If you really want to live like a local in Manchester, Native is the place to do it – you can’t beat the location and there’s plenty of space for you to make yourself at home in the apartments, and then there’s the added benefit of a bar, restaurant and gym just down the stairs.
