CHECKING IN | LA CLEF CHAMPS-ÉLYSÉES

Parisian addresses don’t come more iconic than the Avenue des Champs Elysées, so if you want to do Paris in style then a stay at the five-star La Clef Champs-Elysées will do the trick. Located just off the famous street (right by Louis Vuitton so you can do a little window shopping on your way in and out) and only a short distance from the Arc de Triomphe, the Effiel Tower and the Grand Palais, La Clef Champs-Elysées couldn’t be in a better spot for those wanting to see the sights.

Like its namesake, the property, part of The Crest Collection, is luxury through and through. The hotel is inside a former residence belonging to the Hennessy family, itself a 20th century Haussmannian-style building, with interiors designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel. He’s kept the period look with high ceilings, stone mouldings and a rather impressive neo-Haussmannian marble staircase – all very Parisian, all very chic – with fine finishing touches like herringbone parquet floors, patterned rugs, and a slick palette of black, silver, and marble. There’s a fragrance lounge in the lobby where you can explore six fragrances created especially for the hotel (oh yes, this place smells as good as it looks) and a secluded courtyard, where you can, as we did, soak up the Parisian sunshine with an espresso in hand, whilst the staff organise your check-in.

La Clef Champs-Elysées has 70 rooms, suites and apartments (some with fully equipped kitchens, making them ideal for families), all of which are elegantly decorated and fitted with all the mod-cons you could need. We stayed in a deluxe room with a king bed, sofa, Nespresso machine, flat screen TV, marble bathroom with a huge walk-in shower and L’Occitane products, and a balcony – you couldn’t quite see the Eiffel Tower from ours but there are several rooms that come with that epic view.

The hotel is also home to Chinese restaurant Imperial Treasure, which is the Singaporean restaurant group’s first site in France. We only had breakfast there, which was a buffet affair with pastries, cereals, fruits, juices, cheeses and cured meats plus a hot dish selection that nods to the style of the restaurant with Asian items alongside eggs, potatoes and pancakes.

Not only is it in a fantastic location for sightseeing around Paris, there’s a lot to love inside La Clef Champs-Elysées too so it’s one to have on your list for your next hop across the Channel.
