As holiday season is in full swing, it’s often a pain in the you-know-what getting to the airport no matter what time of the day or night it might be. We recently stayed over at the Hilton at Terminal 4 so only had a short journey to the airport to catch a very early flight. What a breeze that was plus you get to start your holiday a day early.

With zero panic and far less stress, our usual commute home was swapped for a tube ride to Heathrow where we checked in to Hilton London Heathrow Airport. It does feel a little bit like you’re already in the airport because the place is huge. The room was small, cute, comfortable and every bit as Hilton as you would expect, and you’re able to take advantage of their fitness centre, health club, indoor pool, steam room and sauna. There are also three running routes at the nearby local nature reserve and conservation site Bedfont Lake County Park, so if you need to get that ‘one last run’ in before you set off, hit up any of the routes. The multi-award-winning park is home to wildflower meadows, woodlands, fishing lakes, 156 species of birds and 350 species of plants to keep you entertained throughout each step.

We dined at the Italian Aromi restaurant for the evening, where we were served an absolute feast. The sharing platter starter of grilled vegetables, tomato and mozzarella, wrapped scamorza, arancini, bruschetta and salt & pepper Squid AND an Aperol Spritz meant holiday mode was in full swing. Linguini with queen scallops, prosecco and flat leaf parsley was fresh and super tasty, and our other main of grilled beef fillet, braised oxtail and purple puree was cooked perfectly, melting in the mouth. Ending on a fantastic tiramisu, the feast was complete and a very satisfying feast it was too. Did you know that Hilton London Heathrow Airport sources much of their food from its personal herb garden? We bet you didn’t. And since 2017 the hotel has adopted sustainable replacements to many items, including straws. Yes Hilton.
