Ace hotel London Shoreditch, the first Ace hotel to land in Europe, opened it’s doors late last year. Located on Shoreditch High Street in what was the pretty grim Crowne Plaza building, Ace have managed to turn the site into a rather cool hangout with Hoi Polloi restaurant, Lovage juice bar, Bull Dog cafe, florist, basement club and 258 rooms. We spent V Day at the hotel and once we’d eventually checked-in we headed to our Deluxe Double Room, a bright, spacious room with king bed, table, daybed and a radio with stations curated for guests. The rooms are kitted out with plenty of things to take home and buy, from the dressing gowns and cups to the minibar fully stocked with all kinds of goodies. Pot Noodle anyone?
The bathrooms are a good size and come with a shower over a bath and some pretty Ace bathroom products (BOOM!). Once we’d fixed up and were looking smart we hit the lobby bar which serves some impressive cocktails, the Cod Eek was our fav. As the restaurant was jam packed we ate in the bustling lobby instead, the addictive pickled onion rings with salt cod paste and grilled pork belly sandwich were both mighty fine. On Friday night the place was filled an eclectic mix of people and there were some serious lovely vibes – well it was Valentine’s!
The next morning after a coffee in the lobby and couple of avocado cleansing juices from Lovage we were good to go. It’s hip, it’s happening and it’s bloody Ace. Full marks for the mini-bouquet of V Day flowers in the room too…
