Listen up everyone, if you’re the kind of person who goes home crying on Monday regretting what you did on the weekend, we’re here to tell you that there is another way. Well for three more Mondays anyway, you can beat the Monday blues with a smashing new pop up from the Check On boys called This is England. Don’t worry, you can leave your DMs and Fred Perry at home, this is a culinary tour featuring ten courses representing different parts of this green and pleasant land – and best of all its only £30 per person!
The menu is laid out on the map of the UK, telling you where each dish hails from, there’s a oyster and beef pie from Colchester, mackerel and crayfish Cornish pasty from Cornwall (duh), and haddock fish cake from Grimsby. Every dish was superb but the best of the night was roast pork belly from the Ginger Pig farm in Yorkshire, served with rhubarb and parsnips.
This is England takes place at Pied Nus, David Moore’s pop up on Blanford Street, (a pop-up in a pop-up – how very trendy) and with only 30 covers you’ll have to get in there quick to bag a place for the Feb 24th, March 3rd or 10th events.
